DriverSports G Production Series | Sunday June 24 | Trial Mountain

Post  group44 on Tue Jun 19, 2012 4:59 pm

Driversports.org is proud to announce its newest series, G Production. This class consists of a large portion of pre-1975 cars under 2 liters available in GT5. They have all been matched in performance to create a highly competitive field. We will be running a six week series in these vintage machines on some of GT's original tracks. Drivers will have to commit to a single car to run for the entire duration of the series. Championship standings will be tabulated with your lowest race score automatically dropped.

The regulations for G Production will have the race room set to 128hp and 850kg on Comfort Soft tires with all assists disabled. To achieve these specs, all entries will be allowed to have Stealth Modifications to the engine (Sports Intake Manifold, Racing Air Filter, and Sports Exhaust Manifold). There are a few cars that will also need additional Engine Stage Tuning, and some that will require the use of the Engine Limiter. Please note if your car is high mile, you may show different power/limiter figures than those provided in GTdata. You may not add additional tuning parts to make up for losses in power due to mileage. These extra parts will be readily visible upon tech inspection, and you will be disqualified from the race standings.

In addition to the engine limitations and room settings, GT Auto wings are also not allowed. You may use any combination of weight reduction, chassis stiffening, transmission, drivetrain and suspension parts. To meet the weight restrictions, ballasting (and ballast positioning) is allowed.

The preseason races have shown this field to be very competitive and exciting from the drop of the green to the checkered flag. We at DriverSports look forward to seeing you all on track for this six week showdown.

Schedule:
  • June 17 - Autumn Ring | 2.95 km | 1.83 mi
    24 laps | 70.80 km | 43.92 mi

  • June 24 - Trial Mountain | 3.98 km | 2.47 mi
    21 laps | 83.58 km | 51.87 mi
  • July 1 - Cape Ring South | 3.23 km | 2.01 mi
    23 laps | 74.29 km | 46.23 mi
  • July 8 - Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca | 3.60 km | 2.24 mi
    21 laps | 75.60 km | 47.04 mi
  • July 15 - Circuito de Madrid Reverse | 3.39 km | 2.11 mi

Did some testing today and was able to get a 51 flat. Throttle application can be a bit tricky with all the elevation changes. First three corners are gonna be interesting in traffic.

Similar times on my practice, and agreed that the big run from the last corner to the tunnel requires large appendages. Some will die.

My brake and throttle have been progressively flickering on more and more this week. I took the pedals apart a week or two ago, and there's nothing wrong or gummed up with the mechanism, so I think I have to get a new wheel/pedal system. Unfortunately, I can't use this as an excuse to upgrade the wheel, because I just can't justify that amount of money right now (also, I have nowhere to attach a separate shifter module, and i have nowhere to fit a full sized Obutto or equivalent rig).

I'll run tonight, but I might be a bit slow.

If you're getting some incorrect application without pressing the pedal, modify the plastic 'stop' at rest position (flatten it a bit) to make it stop giving phantom application. I had to do this to my own brake not long ago. It's not difficult at all.

Or just add a bungee for increased return power.

Unexpected dinner with the neighbours tonight, so I won't be making this.

Well...as I can't be competitive (even if I try some very touchy settings) I'll likely sit this one out. 1:54.6xx just won't cut it.

I'll be rooting you all on though!

This, screw fast guys, you'll never speed up by not racing.

Registered, wandering out for practice shortly.

I'm running, and my best time makes you look good by comparison, Revengel -- it'd be nice to at least have someone to chase

You should run if you have the time, with full damage on you could take a non-deadly tune and end up on the podium just by not bending your frame. Throw some + ride height in the rear and go.
