DriverSports Cappucino Cup | Friday June 29 | Suzuka East

Post  clacksman on Sun Jun 24, 2012 11:00 am

DriverSports is proud to present our latest challenge, the Cappucino Cup. A six week series using three phases of car specification based on the '95 Suzuki Cappucino. Drivers will run the first two weeks on the default Comfort Medium tires with Tuning Prohibited. The second stint of the series will move to an Improved Specification (fully lightened, with Stealth Modifications to the engine, and fully tuned except aero) on Comfort Soft tires. We will then finish the last two weeks with the Race Modified version (again limited to Stealth Modifications on the engine but with any turbo upgrade) on Sports Medium tires. Races will be roughly 50 mins long. Registration closes at 8:45 and the Drivers Meeting begins at 9:00 and ends at 9:10 pm EST.

Phase 2 begins with this event, and continues next week at Grand Valley East.

You will need to update your PS3 firmware (to 4.20) to sign in before this event, it's not an optional update.

There will be a practice room open on THURSDAY night for this race on Friday. There seems to be more activity thu. than wed. hence the change.

Thanks, Wall

Well I have a little change of plans. I just scheduled a job for tomorrow that's about 6 hours away one way, so it's doubtful I would be back in time to have a room open Thursday. I will open a lounge tonight (WEDNESDAY) for practice if anyone's interested and we'll see how tomorrow goes on my end. I'm sure clacks or Roo will have a room up if I don't.

Sorry, Wall

Thanks for the invite last night Wall, but sadly I am stuck playing nothing but Downloaded games until I get my new Bluray drive. Mad

Live Q before the race, submit dummy time (typically 9:59.999) for registration

Hey Saint, welcome aboard. Cool

Live Qualifying - With all drivers present in the race lobby the host will set the room up for live qualifying. A short race will serve as the live qualifying session. The host will call all cars to the pits and start the countdown timer. Please remain in the pits during the countdown. On the first lap drivers will spread out as to be able to run unobstructed and to prevent drafting. All laps between are eligible for flying qualifying laps. Drivers must respect all track and contact rules. A lap with contact or departure from the track is not eligible. On the final lap drivers will not finish the race, rather they will slow down or stop and post their fastest (legal, clean) lap time in the PSN text chat (please don't use the GT lobby chat as it has a short history), after which they can quit out of the race. The host will sort and post the qualifying order in to the text chat, save the replay and set the lap count for the full race distance, while the racers take to the track in Free Run and line up in grid order (Fastest to Slowest) near turn 1. Once everyone is in order the host will start the race.

There you go!

There is no more pre-qualifying, just registration which you do by submitting any time.

Really didn't answer my question. I understand the concept, but how many laps are you running for the Q'ing. 3, 5, 7? As my tires are not really warming up till a few laps on them. I know everyone is running together, I just want an idea before I have to do it.

Live Q race is 5 laps, so you've got laps 2-3-4 to generate a time. Cold tires indeed.

Put up my best lap. Hopefully you guys aren't more than a second faster. Only thing I'm not sure of is my tranny. Got the car rolling pretty good (for me lol). See you guys tonight. I was messing around Saint, you put up a correct register time lol.

I thought running low 1:06's, according to the lap count, I might be close, but it doesn't look like it.

1'06 is what was used to set the lap count, but it looks like I- I mean the Stig yeah the Stig does our testing - wasn't so quick that day.
