If not, make a run for the border.
I got room on my couch.

The in-game news has the GTAcad '12 promo in it now. Check out the pics - you can spot a GTAcademy edition Leaf! Yay!

A bunch of information on GT Academy: https://www.facebook.com/notes/gt-academy-north-america/gt-academy-2012-frequently-asked-questions/387031914675582
Must be a legal US resident
Other points of interest:
The finals will apparently be decided on one single time trial, event 5 of Week 8. It will be available June 11-24.
The 16 Silverstone finalists from last year are ineligible (good news for me, not so much for some of our friends)
The fastest 32 from event 5 of Week 8 will be flown to the National Finals, and 16 will advance from there to Silverstone (same as last year)

Yeah, kinda figured that no news was bad news on the Canada front a few days ago.
I'm pretty choked.

On the GTP forums, R1600Turbo says that his contract with Nissan from last year says that going to Silverstone wouldn't exclude him from future competitions, so, mixed signals.

Re: Gran Turismo News and Information
I approached the Canadian office with a suggestion, from an American? fan, to give the Canadian fans their own contest, of some sort, and was told that the idea will be put before the social interaction team, so keep an eye on Facebook.
Apparently, the Canadian office was willing to spend the money, so that probably means that there were legal issues. Why Europe can do it for a bunch of countries and we can't do it for only two still baffles me.

Canada-wide contesting of any sort is difficult due to some Quebec-specific issues which (perhaps surprisingly) are not entirely language-based.
Whose 'Canadian Office' do you refer to? Sony, Nissan at least would have to be on board.

PlayStation
Also, don't fret too much over any infractions that you see in the replays, so far. I am told the GT team is "watching" them and that we won't have a free hand to do whatever we want, which I presume means that, at some point beyond the non-contest part, a real penalty of some sort will be paid.
However, they were not really aware of some current issues, so if you see things beyond just off-track infractions, let me know.

Re: Gran Turismo News and Information
GTAcad '12 feels a lot like doing the GT5 license tests, except much easier to gold.
Rounds 1-5 and 2-5 include two AI cars each; there's no apparent penalty for hitting them.
