Sig photos

Post  Wallhugger60 on Wed 28 Dec - 15:20:28

I seem to be having issues putting up a sig. I don't really have anything like photobucket (prolly should), and I'm not sure how to edit the sig section to accept a pic file. When I click "host an image" it sends me that link there, which only seems to be for videos. So once again I'm sure I'm makin this way more complicated than it should be. Thanks guys,

Wall

Edit: just checking to see if it worked:o

It appears that the provider for our forum uses http://www.servimg.com/ for integrated image hosting. So what you'd need to do is signup for an account at Servimg.com and then when you click that button it will have you sign in (I assume you only need to sign in once, after that it's seamless) and pick an image from your Harddrive to upload, it will upload the image and give you the link automatically.

Personally, I use Google Images to host my images, lots of space for pictures, extremely easy to use, and integrated in to everything Google (I already had a gmail.com email address, everything Google does runs off of that anyway, so really nothing new to sign up for). If you have an account like that (Or Photobucket, or Imageshack or any other hosting services), just upload your picture, use the Insert Image button and paste the URL of the image, and click OK.

To get the URL of an image, right click on it and (I use Firefox, depending on your browser it may say something different) 'Copy Image Location'. Then just Ctrl-V or right click and 'Paste' in to that Image field.

Click 'Profile'.

Click 'Signature'.

In the entry box insert the bbcode that will produce your signature. This is what mine looks like

Code:

[/center]

I host my images in a Photobucket account. They are now unlimited storage and they keep your pics full size. You can actually use some of my old sigs if you like:

Thanks for the info. I set up (reopened ) my photobucket last night and got an image to load in the sig section like you guys said. I made an error though and there is one of those small boxes with the red x in it right before the pic. I'm pretty sure it's messin things up. The problem is I can't find where to delete the sig or ony part of it. Help:oops:

Wall

Edit: okay well I got the pic and it's huge lol. I would assume it needs to be edited. Can that be done in PB or should I just do it in the original photo and reload from there? And I'll still need to delete this one. And there's the little red x box lol.

You have extra code after the image:

Code:
" border="0" />

Appears to be extraneous as it wasn't "soaked up" by the board as actual code.

Other than that, yeah please edit down the image so that it's only ~200 pixels tall, either by cropping it (probably the best idea) or shrinking it down. That will have to be done on your machine and then the new image will need to be uploaded and then your signature updated with the new pic.

Go back in to your profile, go to Signature, and just copy/paste this:

Code:
[img]http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd284/Fitter60/limerock2-1.jpg[/img]

That's all you really need.

If you want the image in the horizontal middle, just copy and paste this:

Code:
[center][img]http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd284/Fitter60/limerock2-1.jpg[/img][/center]

When you get your new pic uploaded, just replace the link in the middle with a link to the new photo. Or, if that's causing you issues, insert the image you want to use in this thread and I'll do the code for you.

Profile, signature, make that box blank and save it to have no sig. Pb has an editor of sorts on it. I assume that's you in that SM, be a good pic for an avatar (150x200 avatars here).

Make which box blank? Also when doing the sig, which "box" or tab should I use, the "code" one or "host image" one?

Click 'Profile'
Click 'Signature'
Where the edit box for 'Edit Signature' is, looks just like when you're making a post, delete everything in there.

Then click Insert Image, or 'Image' as the tooltip on the button says, and paste the Link to the image you want in to the box that pops up, click OK and you should see something that looks like this:

Code:
[img]http://www.placeyouhostyourpictures.com/yourpicture.jpg[/img]

That's all you need to do. Don't worry about the code tags, the only reason I put what I wrote in CODE tags above was because otherwise it would try and show you a picture, not the code elements which allow the forum to display the picture. Make sense?

Whew, glad that's over lol. I didn't realize it, but the pic was so big that there was no "text" boe there, so I had to shrink the borders using the arrows and then click to the right of the pic and hit backspace till it was gone. Sorry for bein a pain in the butt. And yae, that's me in the SM from Limerock earlier this year. Those of you not in FTW wouldn't have seen it. It's my brother in laws car and we did a track day end of Sept. I believe. It was a blast. Anyway, thanks again for the help, hopefully when I do have a better sig to put up I'll remember what to do Very Happy

Well, it looks good as an Avatar! Smile

A good easy way to make yourself a Signature is to create a 'Gamercard' by clicking HERE and filling out the form. This will generate an image like what I have beneath my posts, with information about your GT5 account. Once I get back in to the swing of GT5 (It's been a crazy hectic last 30 days) and get back in to Photomode, I'll upload my own signature, but it'll do for now and it's always cool to be able to share your GT5 info with others Smile
