It's all about trail braking for turns 1, 6, 10, and 11. Watching my replays, I've noticed that when I'm entering those turns, right as I'm almost done completely letting of the brake, I give it one little baby stab to upset the car and get it to rotate around the apex cone. Then for all those turns I'm powering out of them in 3rd (still downshifting to second under braking, then shifting up before throttle application).

Also, I've been using Active Steering set to Strong. I don't like doing it, but it's faster for me as I like a car the understeers, and I've got to use every trick I can to make it.

6th in the US, 85th globally bounce

cheers Good stuff, Rack!

I will get myself in to 3rd more quickly, I did find quite a bit of time using 4th earlier though Turns 4 and 5 to keep the car more stable for better exit speed down the long straight to Turn 6. I think if I added up all of my best sector times I might be around 1 second quicker than I am, if I can get down to 1'33s I will be quite pleased. Active Steering, eh? study

Active Steering, not ASM. ASM is crap.

Basically, Active Steering biases the car a bit more towards understeer. For me, it allows me to get on the throttle a little more aggressively without the rear stepping out. Guys are setting top times with and without it, it's more of a personal preference thing.

Fix'd, sorry, yeah forgot those were two settings. I don't think I've messed with those settings in a good long while. I too prefer an understeering car, I'll give it a stab.

you can see your standing at the official web page:
GT Academy - round 8

I'm currently 275th in the US and 2,374th globally with 1'32.515. Did not quite reach my goal of making it in the top 250, but maybe I find some more play time the next few days. I feel like I still have 2 or 3 tenth in me; but it is very time consuming.

I have to say I love 8-5, the track is fantastic and the challenge is ... well, very challenging Very Happy

Top 250 will be tough with all the contest-related effort going on.

I agree, but just to be clear I tried to get into the top 250 in the US. I'm not illusionary enough to reach for global merits. Very Happy

My current time is good for just barely inside the US top 250.

Ah, OK, 19,530 Global, and fallen to 2155 US.

1,000,000 players.

Top 1.9%? If anyone had said I could even do that well before GTA started, I'd have been pretty pleased with that. That said, I'll probably put in a lot more time between now and Sunday.

*anxiously awaiting the bluray replacement for PS3*... Neutral

Oh, by the way, best thing ever seen on a leaderboard:
#20 us Let_Canada_In 1:31.037 + 0.292

Maybe the 2nd best, looking at RackAttack's being in the master class in the US rankings. Cool

I've been keeping this graph updated since early last week, and it has me absolutely terrified. I won't be able to play at all after Friday night, so it's going to be a nerve wracking weekend watching my rank tumble and not being able to do anything about it.

Depends on if you fit a line or some sort of exponential decay.
